Investors Security Company, Inc. (“Investors Security”) is committed to protecting our customers’ personal and financial information. In the course of providing you with brokerage services, we need to collect and maintain certain personal information about you. When you apply for or maintain a brokerage account with Investors Security, we collect the following types of information:

  • Personal information, such as your name, address, social security number, date of birth, and employment information.

  • Information about your transactions with us, such as your account balance, purchases, sales, transfers, and other trading activity.

We collect this information from applications and other forms that you complete and from your communications with our registered representatives or customer service personnel. As described below, we treat the information we collect from you as confidential.

To whom and under what circumstances do we disclose your personal information?
Investors Security uses the information that it collects, as described above, to provide you with the financial services you seek from us. In order to service your account and effect your transactions, we may provide your personal information to firms, such as our clearing broker, that assist us in processing your transactions and/or servicing your accounts (“service providers”). We may also provide your personal information to our registered representatives for purposes of communicating with you regarding your account or our products and services. We require our service providers and registered representatives to protect the confidentiality of your personal information and to use it only for the purpose for which the disclosure is made.

We may disclose personal information, as permitted by law, with our affiliated company, Old Dominion Investors Trust, Inc. By sharing information about your accounts and relationships with our affiliated company, we can offer you a broader range of financial services, improve your experience with us, and serve your more efficiently.

Finally, Investors Security discloses personal information to nonaffiliated third parties as permitted or required by law. These parties include government agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

How does Investors Security protect your personal information?
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information. We also restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those agents or employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you, such as our registered representatives and our customer service personnel.

To help the U.S. government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies persons opening accounts. To comply, we require your name, address, date of birth and government-issued identification number (generally, a Social Security Number) and other information that may help us identify you. We may ask for copies of related documentation and we may consult third-party databases to help verify your identity.
