WHAT DOES INVESTORS SECURITY COMPANY, INC. DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Investors Security Company, Inc. (“Investors Security”) values our relationship with you and considers your privacy an important priority in maintaining that relationship.  We are committed to protecting our customers’ personal and financial information.  In the course of providing you with brokerage services, we need to collect and maintain certain personal information about you.  This Privacy Statement will help you understand what types of non-public personal information we may collect, how we use it, and how we protect your privacy.


Financial companies such as Investors Security choose how they share your personal information.  Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some, but not all, sharing.  Federal law also requires us to tell you, the customer, how we collect, share, and protect your personal information.  Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the products you purchase or services we provide.  This information can include:

  • Personal information, such as your name, address, social security number, date of birth, and employment information.1
  • Financial information, such as your income, assets, and trading experience.
  • Information about your transactions with us, such as your account balance, purchases, sales, transfers, and other trading activity.
  • Information we may receive from a consumer reporting agency (e.g., your creditworthiness and credit history).

[1]To help the U.S. Government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies persons opening accounts.  To comply, Investors Security requires your name, address, date of birth and government-issued identification number (generally, a Social Security Number) and other information that may help us identify you.  We may ask for copies of related documentation and we may consult third-party databases to help verify your identity.

We collect this information from applications and other forms that you complete and from your communications with our registered representatives or customer service personnel.  As described below, we treat the information as confidential.  When you are no longer our customer, we continue to protect and share your information as described in this notice.

All financial companies need to share customers’ personal information to run their everyday business.  In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their customers’ personal information, the reasons Investors Security chooses to share, and whether you can limit this sharing.

For our everyday business purposes –

such as to process your transactions, maintain your account(s), respond to court orders and legal investigations, or report to credit bureaus

Yes, Investors Security and its registered representatives may use the personal information that it collects to:

  • provide you with the financial services you seek from us;
  • service and maintain your account;
  • effect your transactions; communicate with you regarding your account or our products and services;
  • protect your accounts from unauthorized access or identity theft and to verify your identity;
  • respond to court orders, legal investigations or other governmental inquiries (e.g., Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission), as permitted or required by law; andreport to credit bureaus.

Yes, Investors Security may share your personal information with affiliated firms regarding your transactions, experience and creditworthiness, to assist Investors Security in processing your transactions and/or servicing your accounts. You cannot limit the sharing of information with affiliates regarding your transactions and experience.  You can limit the sharing in regards to your creditworthiness.

For our affiliates to market to you -

How does Investors Security protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law.  These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.  We require our service providers and registered representatives to protect the confidentiality of your personal information and to use it only for the purpose for which the disclosure is made.  We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you.  We maintain strict physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your non-public personal information.  Finally, we require contractors and outside companies who work with us to adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality standards through their contracts with us. 

How does Investors Security collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • submit an application;
  • open an account; or
  • communicate with Investors Security employees, customer service personnel and our registered representatives.

We may also collect personal information from our service providers, credit bureaus, affiliates, other financial companies or nonaffiliates.

Why can’t I limit all sharing by Investors Security?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for non-affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing. 

Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

Non-affiliates Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.  Nonaffiliates we share with can include governmental entities, credit bureaus, software vendors, service providers, companies that provide marketing services on our behalf, and consulting firms.
Joint marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies, such as Investors Security and a mutual fund or variable annuity provider, that together market financial products or services to you.
